Spacial Efficiency of Universal Changerooms @MJMA Architecture
Design Research - Service Design
Overview
At MJMA, a Toronto-based architecture firm known for its civic and community buildings, I contributed to a long-term research initiative aimed at translating over a decade of design leadership in universal change room and washroom strategies into an internal knowledge system. The goal: create a clear, communicative, and evolving repository of spatial analyses and design patterns to inform future public projects—and improve user understanding and comfort around inclusive spaces.
Though grounded in architecture, this project sits at the intersection of design research, service design, and information design. It asked: How can complex spatial histories and social sensitivities be communicated clearly and empathetically—to both clients and communities?
